Hello all.  I wanted to brainstorm on the question:
Are there any other activities you think should be included?

First, a disclaimer... Wink  I live in Louisville, KY 3 hours away, have never
been to any of your events, and don't know yet if I can go to Whedonfest 2010.

I would like to hear some great Indie rock bands.  We could call the stage area "the Bronze".  I'm sure you could find some TV/Movie related bands and if not... maybe the bands could cover some Whedon related songs like the bands do at Lebowskifest (where they play covers of songs from the movie).

We could have yoga and bonsai Tree trimming like on Dollhouse.  lol

Anyone else have ideas?

We have ideas! However..we also try to not let the cat out of the bag until we see if we can make it happen. Nothing disappoints like a dead kitten falling out of a bag. However, some of the things we are definitely working on....

Discussion panels on the TV Shows, Movies,Comic Books, and Books

Whedon Themed Costume contest

Battle of Serenity Valley Paintball Re-enactment.

Shindig Grillout & (possibly) bonfire.

The Can't Stop the Serenity showing of Serenity of course!

Unfortunately, the odds of having an assortment of bands doesn't look good, because we would have to ask them to play for nothing and drag all of their equipment to the edge of the 'verse. (Any bands wanting to volunteer for this can send us the demo) We are open to the idea of any musicians attending bringing along their instruments for a filkjam.

However..we welcome the ideas and suggestions because if you ask for something we were already stealthily working on, it tells us we're on the right track, and if you give us a great new idea, we don't have to admit we weren't already thinking of it!

Sounds good.  I understand about the bands.  Perhaps if the festival grows in a few years there could be enough money to hire a band or two prior to the Saturday movie.

For some perspective how many people came to last year's festival?

I still vote for yoga because I would like to pretend I'm a dis-engaged active.  We could chant "I always try my best."

How about calling the cabin/camping area "Hyperion" like the hotel on Angel? Grin

I'll keep throwing out ideas as I get them.  Feel free to flush them.  Wink

Well..one cabin might be Hyperion...another might be the Hellmouth...another might be the Dollhouse...another could be the Evil League of Evil....another could be Border Planets...
By the way..if we do have the bonfire I strongly discourage anyone from walking through it

Very cool ideas purple! Definitely keep 'em coming.

I know there is a current plan to have Tai Chi, but we don't have a yoga instructor at the moment. Still, the actives did T'ai Chi as well, so you can still "be your best".

Be sure to let us know if you'll be coming down this way, or if you'll have the time to come down for a small event, because we'd love to have you involved and get to know a new fellow Whedonite! I hope you can make it to WhedonFest. We had about 50 people last year, so it was a rather small event all things considered, but raised over $2000.

Yeah, we done the impossible, and this year, we plan to do it bigger.

Thanks for the welcome!

Oh I'm excited to do Tai Chi!!  I want to go there and pretend I'm an active!

I hate to compare this to the Lebowski festival but... I kind of want to.  Those people are really creative and everyone dresses as a character from the movie.  There are several around the country but the one in Louisville is the main one.  I have thought of a costume I want to wear to WhedonFest though I don't necessarily want to be in the costume contest.

I'm impressed 50 people came last year and you made that much.  That's great that we can do it bigger this year!  I'm pretty sure I'm going to be there.

I have family who just moved to the South side of Nashville but I don't have any plans to visit yet.  Also, my husband and I have gone to Nashville to see some indie rock shows in the past.  I'll let you know.

I just wanted to say I'm impressed with all the planning you all appear to be doing.  Look at all the sponsors so far.  It's great.

I got my ticket and I'm trying to recruit other whedonites as I find them.

There are others...the "read" tally seems to reflect more people read than reply.

Didn't they play basketball on Serenity? Looks like the camp has a court according to their website. I'll bring a ball and maybe some of us will horse around.

Hi! Michael from Louisville here. I was searching for some Kentucky Browncoats and I came across Whedonfest. I've registered and am looking forward to it. I'll probably be asking a lot of questions about everything as it gets closer and I'll make sure to spread the word to my friends.

Seems like a very unique experience. Can't wait!
